1970's

Wayne Spencer '74 the Master Instructor of the Year Award at the 2005 World Karate Union Hall of Fame event held in Tannersville, Pennsylvania.

Tom Alphin '75 and his wife, Pam Buchanan Alphin '75 own and operate the Commonwealth Cotton Gin in Windsor, Virginia. They have been married for 27 years and are still going strong! Bill Dodson '75 is happily planning the Class of 1975's 30th reunion. He is a dentist specializing in Endodontics (root canals) and practices in Suffolk, Virginia.

Connie Munford Hangartner '75 received her private Investigator's Certificate and is currently seeking her P.I. License.

Elizabeth Sealey Smith '75 graduated from James Madison University in May 1979 and has been working for 10 years as an industrial hygienist for the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. Elizabeth and her husband, Kent, have one son, Kent, who is 11, and they make their home in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Congratulations to Terri Patty Crumpler '79 , Lower School grade 7 teacher, on the occasion of the NSA 2005 yearbook dedication in her honor. Congratulations, Terri!

1980's

Bryan Holland '88 is employed as a sales manager for Meherrin Chemicals & Fertilizer in Holland.

Brad Bray '89 graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1993. He worked for several years in advertising before returning to Savannah College of Art and Design and is currently completing a master of Fine Arts Degree. Brad has taken a job with Blu Dot, an international furniture design and manufacturing company located in Minneapolis. Brad is employed in the furniture design division.

Chris Woleben '89 , a pediatric physician and Associate Professor at the Medical College of Virginia, a division of Virginia Commonwealth University, was nominated by his students and confirmed by fellow professors/staff as the "Professor of the Year" in May 2005. In addition, the nursing staff at MCV awarded Chris "Partner in Progress" making him the doctor with which the nurses would most like to work.

Beth Hunter '84 is currently living and working in Montreal, Quebec. Beth is the Communications Director for the World Anti Doping Agency.

Shri Pillai '85 graduated from The College of William and Mary in 1989 and entered the Medical College of Virginia. Upon graduation from medical school in 1993, he entered general surgical residency at West Virginia University from 1993-1996. Shri did two years of pediatric surgical research and competed general surgical residency at The Ohio State University. He also completed a 2-year fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago (2001-2003) and is currently working as a pediatric surgeon at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Illinois as well as being Chief of Pediatric Surgery there.

1990's

Jimmy Adams '90 is the president of Amadas Coach, one of Suffolk's newest businesses. Amadas Coach starts with a bus shell, a 500-horsepower diesel engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, and then Amadas Coach adds an interior of leather, marble floors and countertops, granite and exotic woods. The interiors are similar to those of luxury yachts, with a place for everything, including high-tech entertainment centers, communications, Internet access, complete kitchens, mirrored walls and ceilings. Finished coaches can sell for more than $1 million.

Anne E. Morgan-Marshall D.D.S., M.D. '90 has completed her residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas. She and her husband, Craig, have relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia, where she has joined the Central Virginia Facial Surgeons group.

Stacey Turner McManamy '93 is employed by MCI as a network engineer for foreign countries. Steve Riggs '93 is the Chief Urology Resident at the University of Mississippi Hospital. He has been awarded a fellowship to UCLA Medical. Steve graduated from the College of Charleston and the Medical University of South Carolina.

Daina Rice Hill '94 is a pharmaceutical sales representative in Hickory, North Carolina.

Jay Dixon '94 is a recording engineer in the music industry in Melbourne, Florida. Jay continues to surf and often does so before he heads in to work.

Susannah Virginia Carr '95 graduated from Washington and Lee University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Susannah is currently employed by Wachovia Securities in Richmond, Virginia.

Jay Fisher '95 , a graduate of Furman College in Greensville, South Carolina, was a four-year letterman on the men's golf team. In 1998 he captured the title of Virginia State Amateur. Jay is employed as an assistant golf professional at Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth, Georgia.

Hollie Writtenberry Hill '95 and her husband, Andy, have relocated to Ashburn, Virginia. Hollie teaches music and band at Nysmith School for the Gifted in Herndon, Virginia.

Jack Williams "Will" Webb '96 graduated from Virginia Polytechnical Institute and State University and is employed by Nansemond Insurance Agency in Suffolk, Virginia.

Kristin Beale '99 received her BS in sports medicine in 2003 from Lynchburg College. She is currently pursuing a master of divinity degree in Christian education at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Laura Stow Sells '95 has been married for 51/ 2 years to Kevin and they have two wondeful children, Alex and Noah. Laura reports her family is the joy of her life and that she enjoys every minute with them. Laura was recently named Executive Editor of the Washington & Lee Law Review.

Anna Quinn Lynch '99 graduated from Bridgewater College. She is a community relations representative for Farm Fresh grocery stores.

2000's

Michael Edwards '00 graduated from Radford University with a bachelor's of business administration in May 2005.

Tommy Bailey '01 graduated from Penn State University in May 2005. After scoring in the 97% on the LSAT, he will enter St. John's Law School in New York City with a full St. Thomas Moore Scholarship in the fall of 2005.

Mara Felitti '01 graduated May 7, 2005, from the University of Alabama with a BS in Human Environmental Science, majoring in Restaurant and Hospitality Management and was one of five graduates selected nationally by the Air Force Civilian Management Program. Mara is moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to begin her training program at the US Air Force Academy. After completing the 18-month training program, she will be assigned to one of the Air Force's bases to as either a manager or an assistant manager of the Officers' Club. Mara was on the Dean's List for both the fall of 2004 and the spring of 2005 of her senior year.

Mike McGahee '01 graduated cum laude from Virginia Tech in May 2005 with a BA in Geography. Mike has been awarded a graduate research assistantship to pursue his Master's degree at Virginia Tech in the fall of 2005.

Autumn Faith Warren '01 graduated from Radford University on May 7, 2005, with a BS in Social Work. Autumn worked during the summer with the Jacksonville, Florida North American Mission Board serving as a Mission Tract Leader.

Rob Ferguson '02 was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's preeminent honor society for the liberal arts, awarding and recognizing his high academic achievement, moral character, responsible citizenship and broad intellectual curiosity. He was further honored as the recipient of the P.T. Atkinson Award, which honors the student who best exemplifies the legacy of Mr. Atkinson, Hampden-Sydney College's former business manager and treasurer as well as being inducted into Chi Beta Phi, the national honorary science fraternity which also recognizes and rewards academic excellence. Rob is a rising junior at Hampden-Sydney College and an Allen Scholar majoring in both biology and economics and commerce. He is a member of the social fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha and a member of the Pre-Business Club. Rob has been accepted in the early admission program at Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Dana Filetti '02 earned First Team All-American Honors on the uneven bars at the 2005 NCAA Gymnastics Championships. A rising senior at the University of Alabama, Dana performed her best-ever routine on the uneven parallel bars at a crucial time to ignite fourth-ranked Alabama to a third-place finish in the qualifying session at the NCAA Championship at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum in April 2005. When Dana came up to the uneven bars her teammates, including three other All-Americans and an Olympic medalist, had missed eight straight landings. Dana came through with a close-to-flawless 9.9 routine and Alabama scored 9.825 or better on seven of its next nine routines to finish so well, "I just go out and try to do my routine to the best of my ability. I knew if I did what I'm capable of doing, I'd get a big score. A lot of times in meets I hold back and don't go for it. I had hit all my handstands, so I went for it and it worked!" Dana's coach, Sarah Patterson, believed her bar routine to be perfect and was excited to report that the routine brought everyone to their feet in thunderous applause.

Tanvir Haque '02 was named to the dean's list with high honors at Vanderbilt University where he is pursuing an engineering degree.

Brooke Lambert '02 , a rising senior at Randolph-Macon College, finished her junior year tennis season at 9-3 in singles and 7-3 in doubles. Brooke finished fourth in singles and doubles at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships and was named to the All-Conference team.

Kelly Mazurek '02 was chosen for membership in Kappa Delta Pi at Barton College. Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education electing those who exhibit the ideals of scholarship, high personal standards, and promise in teaching and allied professions. Kelly's selection was based on her high academic achievement, her commitment to education as a career, and a professional attitude that assures steady growth in the profession.

William Slack '02 was inducted into the Gamma Chapter, Hampden-Sydney College of Chi Beta Phi. Chi Beta Phi is the national honorary science fraternity that recognizes and rewards academic excellence in the sciences. William is a senior chemistry major at Hampden-Sydney and has been accepted to the early admission program at Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Ben Boone '03, Christopher Coleman '03, and Meg Eason '03 , were all named to The College of William and Mary's Dean's List for the spring 2005 semester.

Nate Grover '03 was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association First Doubles team for 2004-2005. Nate is a rising junior at Old Dominion University.

Matt Spencer '03 received his Associate Tae Kwon Do Instructor of the Year award at the 2005 World Karate Union Hall of Fame event held in Tannersville, Pennsylvania.

Branden DeLong '04 has been awarded an Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) college scholarship. Branden was selected on the basis of comprehensive test scores, high school scholastic achievement, school officials' evaluations, extra-curricular activities and community involvement and the scholarship will cover tuition, textbooks, laboratory fees and a non-taxable monthly stipend during the school year. Branden is a rising sophomore at Virginia Military Institute.

Laura Doland '04 was named to The College of William and Mary's Dean's List for the spring 2005 semester.

Bo Garner '04 was named to the spring 2005 dean's list. at Randolph-Macon College. He is a rising sophomore and completed his first baseball collegiate season with a batting average of .314 with 27 hits and nine RBIs. On the mound, Bo appeared in 17 games with a 3-5 record and two saves.

Chase Goodwin '04 was named to the dean's list for the fall and spring semesters at George Mason University. Chase is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Fraternity, an honor fraternity for students who have earned a 3.5 grade point average or better in their freshman year. He is also a member of the social fraternity, Kappa Sigma, and will hold the community service chair for the 2005-2006 year.

Jonathan Nadal '04 was named to The College of William and Mary's Dean's List for the spring 2005 semester.
