Technology

Technology at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy continues to grow and provide more opportunities for students and faculty. Equipped with voice, video and data to all classrooms the campus also has wireless access points throughout. Three classroom computer labs and four wireless mobile laptop labs make research and creativity available to all classes. Full-time teachers are issued a wireless laptop so that they can work campus-wide. With a full T1 line the NSA community has Internet research capabilities at all times.

To supplement their curriculum, teachers have the ability to schedule videos and DVDs that are part of the NSA collection through Telecenter equipment. Control of the scheduled audio-visual equipment is accomplished through the teacher's wireless laptop and can be viewed in their classroom. Each classroom has a monitor mounted for student viewing. Daily announcements pertinent to the Upper School and/or Lower School run over the monitor to keep the school community informed.

NSA subscribes to on-line data bases through the library program that are available to all students and patrons. Instructional tutorial subscriptions for use by students and teachers are made available as well. Access to video-streaming of educational materials have enhanced instruction in numerous classrooms.
